Just a Sunny Sunday

Here are a few snap shots from a good afternoon's vintage flying from Hood aerodrome. It was the first nice day in many weeks; Sam and Cat were down from Auckland....

The hangar doors were opened, the OSRC Avro 504 was wheeled out of the way and then the flying began!

Sam donned his flight suit and prepared to take the visitor for a flight in BAT - our "Whittaker's flying billboard".

And Dave gave Tom's cousin (I never did learn his name!) a hand to strap in. he had a great flight!

Martin and Dave came over from Wellington, John B was there and Tom sent his cousin to experience a flight in our Tiger...

Cat and Martin took over the J3 Cub, Martin was checking out Cat in the Cub - she is more used to her Pitts Special up at Ardmore.

Contact! Dave does the honours to get the Cub started and warming up.

The aviators reported that above 3000 feet it was quite turbulent from a blustery westerly - best to stick to low and slow flying over the plains.

Cat liked her time in the Cub, but she prefers the Tiger; its the romance of an open cockpit, a biplane and wind in the wires, she explained later.

Elsewhere on the aerodrome that afternoon the Life Flight Trust rescue helicopter refuelled while in the course of a bush search and rescue, while Kerry (Ace Aviation) had her Maule in action.

And across the flight line, the massed Fletchers waited patiently for better conditions and another working week
