De Havilland DH82A Tiger Moth ZK-BLK

 

This classic British training aircraft formed the backbone of the Commonwealth basic pilot training in WWII.  ZK-BLK was built in the de Havilland factory at Rongotai, Wellington in 1943 and served in the RNZAF until 1947.  The most popular aircraft in the SVAS fleet, BLK offers an opporyunity to enjoy the open air biplane experience that belongs to earlier decades of flight.

Comments

The Tiger Moth is an elegant example of a fully aerobatic trainer that has also served in other roles.  In New Zealand many were converted port was for aerial tropdressign and helped forge that industry into a world leader supporting agricultural development.
